CREATIVE COLLEGE FOR MEDIA & TECHNIQUE
The Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam is the largest specialized vocational college in the field of media, design and technique in the Netherlands. More than 4,000 students study in 40 different programmes ranging from interactive media and graphic design, animation, games, film and video, stage and theatre technique, to media management, media technology, printing and finishing. All courses are given in Dutch with the exception of the International Course for interactive media which is given entirely in English.
The Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam brings the latest trends & developments in the professional fields of media, design and technique into the classroom. Through software training, self-learning tutorials, multi-disciplinary projects and internships, students learn to actively participate in professional work processes in their chosen specialism.
School Facilities
The GLR has excellent facilities and manages contacts with over 3,500 companies in the creative industry. The school maintains an extensive computer network (PC & Mac), with student intranet and digital archive, drawing studios, advanced AV studios, editing stations and a complete printing & finishing department. The school has more than 1500 work stations making the latest version of graphic, 3D and multimedia software to the students. Our mediatheek makes extra workspace available to students as well as books and magazines focused on the studies we offer and important related subjects.
Continuing Education
In addition to the daytime college program, the Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam offers continuing education evening program to practising professionals. The Media College offers over 100 different courses, trainings and workshops in the fields of media, design and technology to companies and professionals who want to learn new skills or sharpen existing skills for the latest versions of graphic and multimedia software. Dutch vocational education (MBO)
The Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam offers college studies referred to as 'Middelbaar Beroeps Onderwijs (MBO)'. MBO stands for secondary Vocational Education and Training (VET). This college entry level study prepares young professionals to diverse industries in the Netherlands. Vocational institutions like the GLR also form the bridge between the vocational and higher level HBO educational institutions which enable young people to improve their prospects for careers in higher positions.
Internationalization & Media Design English language programme
The Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam recognizes the need for schools to be global players. The GLR prides itself for its active efforts in internationalization by looking beyond its borders to schools, industries and students in other European and international countries.
Unique to the GLR is a 4 year college design programme for interactive media and web design given entirely in English! The International Course in Media Design offers a broad exposure to the world of visual communication and interactive media to prepare students for professional careers where ever they may choose. Students learn about the profession by following lessons, completing assignments and working on projects in teams. The classes mirror professional practice to teach students to work with concepts, design, typography and graphic & interactive products such as motion graphics & websites.

The GLR is pro-active and open for new international initiatives. Our institute is continuously searching for new partners to expand possibilities for our students & faculty and students & faculty from other countries in Europe and abroad.
